Make it go away...

And each year when I think Christmas time cannot get sadder I'm proved to be wrong and this year's Christmas Day is the saddest of them all. Without even leaving my room I'm trying to force myself to feel the magic of Yule. I've dusted off some records I haven't been listening to for ages. They improve my mood. They gently rock my worried mind. This mood of mine doesn't surpise me, I've always been way too emotional for this ugly world and on days like this, I pay the price for being ridiculously hyper-emotional, hyper-sensitive and a bit pathetic as well. Guess I'm only dreaming about this time to be finished and for an ordinary, grey, colourless days to take over again. "when the heartbeat slows, when the silence grows". I miss You...

The Outcome

I woke up today
Expecting to find all that I sought
And climb the mountains of the life I bought
Finally I'm at the top of every hierarchy
Unfortunately there is no one left
But me

I woke up today
To a world that's ground to dust, dirt and stone
I'm the king upon this withering throne
I ruled every forest, every mountain, every sea
Now there're but ruins left to rule for me
And... you see, it beckons me;
Life turned its back on us
How could you just agree?
...how? I just don't see...

I woke up today
To a world devoid of forests and trees
Drained of every ocean, every sea
Just like a useless brick upon the shore
The morning after the storm
That swept the bridge away
Relentless tide
No anger
Just this relentless time
That calls us all on
But...

I'm never crossing that line
Leaving this world behind
I will stay on my own
On this bloodstained throne
I rule the ruins and wrecks
And the dust, dirt and stone
I rule rage rod and rattling of bones

I am on my own
I am all alone
Everything is gone
Stuck forever here
Already cold

Yet another sad anniversary

28 years ago the world became a sadder and even more hopeless place.

FRANK we remember...

December 4th 2008 marks the 15th anniversary of Frank Zappa's passing. We remember Frank and in my memories You have never been more alive than You are right now. Thank you for Your genius.

“I don't care whether I'm remembered. As a matter of fact, there's a lot of people who would like to forget about me as soon as possible, and I'm on their side! You know? Just ... hurry up and get it over with. I do what I do because I like doing it, I do it for my amusement first, if it amuses you ... that's fine. I'm happy that you'll participate in it. But, uh, after I am dead and gone, there is no need to deal with any of this stuff, because it is not written for future generations, it is not performed for future generations. It is performed for now. Get it while it's hot, you know? That's it.”

Frank Zappa from "There Is No Need"

3 Dec 2008

one last goodbye

How I needed you
How I grieve now you're gone
In my dreams I see you
I awake so alone

I know you didn't want to leave
Your heart yearned to stay
But the strength I always loved in you
Finally gave way

Somehow I knew you would leave me this way
Somehow I knew you could never, never stay
And in the early morning light
After a silent peaceful night
You took my heart away
And my being

In my dreams I can see you
I can tell you how I feel
In my dreams I can hold you
And it feels so real

I still feel the pain
I still feel your love
I still feel the pain
I still feel your love

And somehow I knew you could never, never stay
And somehow I knew you would leave me
And in the early morning light
After a silent peaceful night
You took my heart away
I wish you could have stayed

A Way Out

Out of joint, out of true, out of love,
out of the blue, out of order, out of orbit,
out of control,
out of touch, out of line, out of sync
and out of time, out of gas, out of tread,
out of road.
Out of date, out of stock, out of use -
out, out dammed spot!
You want out, you want out of it for good.
Out of the running, out of the game,
out on your feet, clear out of range,
out of context, out of contact,
out of the woods.
Out, out, looking for a way out,
no straws are left to cling to;
out, out, going for the fade-out...
but what do you fade into?
Out on the town, out for laughs,
out of service, out to grass,
out of mourning, our of purdah,
out of bail,
out of kilter, out grace,
out to get out of this place,
out of this world, out and out
beyond the plae.
Right out of character, out of sympathy,
so far out upon a limb
you're out of your tree....
Out of breath, out of tune, out of your head
and out of view, down and out,
out for the count, or is it just for revenge?
Out of sight, out of mind, leave it out,
leave it behind out of reach
of all family, all friends
Out, out, going for the bale-out,
no parachute above you.
Out, out, you'll not feel the fall-out
...I wish I'd said "I love you"

(Peter Hammill)

The Day of Kindness

I was so very surprised finding out that today (that is 21st day of November) is the Day of Kindness. As my nature is kinda perverse this is what first came to my mind today :

They found Mary Bellows cuffed tot he bed
With a rag in her mouth and a bullet in her head
O poor Mary Bellows
She'd grown up hungry, she'd grown up poor
So she left her home in Arkansas

She wanted to see the deep blue see
She drove across Tennessee

She met a man along the way
He introduced himself as Richard Slade

Poor Mary thought that she might die
When she saw the ocean for the first time

She checked into a cheap little place
Richard Slade carried in her old suitcase

'I'm a good girl, sir," she said to him
I couldn't possibly permit you in

Slade tipped his hat and winked his eye
And turned away without goodbye

She sat on her bed and thought of home
With the sea breeze whistling all alone

In hope and loneliness she crossed the floor
And undid the latch on the front door

They found her the next day cuffed to the bed
A rag in her mouth and a bullet in her head

So mothers keep your girls at home
Don't let them journey out alone
Tell them the world is full of danger
And to shun the company of strangers
O poor Mary Bellows
O poor Mary Bellows

(Nick Cave)

THE EMPYREAN is due on Januray 20th 2009

Another exciting information from John Frusciante. As RHCP site officially states :

" Friends and Fans,
The Empyrean is my new record and will be released worldwide via Record Collection on January 20th 2009. It was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008. It is a concept record that tells a single story both musically and lyrically. The story takes place within one person, and there are two characters. It contains a version of Tim Buckleys, 'Song To The Siren' and the rest of the songs are written by me. My friend Josh plays on it, as does Flea. It also features Sonus Quartet, Johnny Marr and The New Dimension Singers. I'm really happy with it and I've listened to it a lot for the psychedelic experience it provides. It should be played as loud as possible and it is suited to dark living rooms late at night.

- John Frusciante, November 3rd, 2008 "

And the 'The Empyrean' Track listing:

1. Before The Beginning
2. Song To The Siren
3. Unreachable
4. God
5. Dark/Light
6. Heaven
7. Enough Of Me
8. Central
9. One More Of Me
10. After The Ending

Richard Wright (28 07 1943 - 15 09 2008)

How sad I am I cannot express. Another unique and irreplaceable musician has left us forever. Wonderful Richard Wright, keyboard player of my beloved group Pink Floyd. His music created with the group as well as His solo efforts has always been with me since Day One. His gentle sound and somehow minimalistic approach toward keyboard playing has always impressed me and touch the deepest layers of my soul. I'm so happy I could see Richard live two years ago during His concert with David Gilmour in Gdańsk. I literally cried like a baby when I've heard the live versions of classic Floyd tunes like "Breathe" or "Echoes" - songs I've grown up listening to and song which every note I know by heart. Thank you Rick for being the kind of person you were for all those years. I miss you already.

Now that's what I call an exciting news !!! Can't wait !!!

My thoughts on "The Dark Knight"

The Joker portrayed by late Heath Ledger (1979 - 2008)

So I went to the movies yesterday to see one of the most (if not the most) anticipated film of this summer, Christopher Nolan's sequel to his 2005's "Batman Begins" called "The Dark Knight". For weeks I've been hearing nothing but praise and good opinions about this movie and to be frank my expectations toward the movie were enormous. Apart from always amazing Nolan/Bale cooperation I was looking forward to see and experience the wonderful Heath Ledger's personification of The Joker. Sadly it's the penultimate performance of that brilliant actor (the last one, unfinished, being Terry Gilliam's 'The Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassus') but the one I'm certain he will be remember for by all of us. Ledger created The Joker from the scratch, Tim Burton's Joker (portrayed by Jack Nicholson) is nothing as sinister, evil and repulsive as the one played by late Heath Ledger. His performance eclipsed Batman himself and is the endless parade of unforgettable gestures, catchy phrases ('why so serious?') and tiny things like ongoing champs and tongue twisting that makes his personification of Joker the most incredible, haunting and memorable performance I've seen in cinema for ages.

Please sacrifice some time to watch this great documentary about the tragic life of one of my mentors - exceptional translator and lover of good art and vampyrism, the late Tomasz Beksiński. He committed suicide on Christmas Day back in 1999 and this feature sheds some light on his complex and complicated perception of reality.
I miss You Tomasz...

It has ended in tears

Nothing seemed right from the very morning. Too much distress, too much doubts, one person too many, the heat pouring from the sky, all the studying, all the thoughts. My nervous system failed eventually and to the sound of Steven Wilson's version of "Guitar Lesson", that must be the saddest song ever,I bursted in tears... How childish... Yet how relieving...

Guitar Lesson

The pupil is twelve, attractive, withdrawn
In a midnight blue school uniform
Lips just a little too full for her face
Distant eyes full of space
In her posture no trace of coquette
No defiance

She fingers the frets looking forlorn
Crossing her legs where her tights have been torn
Starts as her mother comes into the room
And the afternoon grows still
And her mother feels chill
Shivers and buttons her coat

I gently correct the curve of her back
And open her book in the now-empty flat
At the classical piece I've had her prepare
And her arms are bare as she plays
And I draw back behind her ear
A few strands of hair gone astray

She shows me her bracelet, the lesson is done
I turn it around between finger and thumb
We sit face to face and it seems to me that
Her face is the face of a cat
And touching the place where her breasts will be
I press my hand flat

She comes into my lap, I turn her around
Her hands clasp my neck and her feet skim the ground
Her skirt travels up under my palm
But the pupil sits looking so calm
As if listening to the distant sound
Of a burglar alarm

What happened next it's hard to recall
The guitar lesson left no traces at all
Now, from afar, it seems to resemble
A strange composition in oil
Of a man, a guitar, and an innocent little girl

Stop Swimming

This song leaks out onto the pavement
It could be a joke, it could be a statement
The more that I fake it and pretend I don't care
The more you can read in to what isn't there

Maybe it's time to stop swimming
Maybe it's time to find out where I'm at
What I should do and where I should be
But no-one will give me a map

I'll leave now this can't continue
But I forget which door I came through
And I know that the lift can be painfully slow
So I'm happy to leave by the window

"The Lifeless Meaning Of A Holy Flight"

OK, so the story went something like this. Our literature lecturer told us that we will be exempt from the final literature exam if we stage some kind of play at least once in the future. So automatically that had set my wheels in motion and I thought about creating a show based on Monthy Python's Flying Circus - something I've always wanted to do given such an opportunity. So one evening I sat with pencil, scrap of paper and all the Circus episodes creating a draft of what was to become our play. I picked some sketches (mostly from the first season), wrote linking scenes, matched certain characters to people from my group and slowly the play was ready - on the paper. Some time after New Year in between our classes we started to rehearse all the sketches. Nothing went smoothly at the beginning but as the time went by and our deadline was approaching we pulled our socks up and by the end of march we were ready to do the first full stage rehearsals. To cut the long story short on march 30th we staged our play entitled "The Lifeless Meaning Of A Holy Flight" in one of Tychy's high schools. We did two completely "sold out" performances and myself as well as the rest of my friends from my group were extremely happy and proud of ourselves afterwards. Since then we've received yet another invitation to perform our tiny little show and I'm already looking forward to do it all over again.

Busy, busy, busy...

I've been extremely busy recently with all that studying and tests to pass during the next several days. Of course I've enjoyed some time off with my Loved Ones this past (not so) long weekend. But basically days are filled with smashing amount of knowledge I have to acquire but somehow I get my way through all of it with the sounds of some recently dug out classic rock albums like Bad Company's first and Late Paul Kossoff's solo efforts.

Oh yes, have I mentioned awe-inspiring sun outside my windows. And it was not so long ago when I truly hated that Fat Old Sun and now it brings me so much energy and happiness.

Yes, it's all because of You...

From Within

Millions of smiles, warm-hearted people around, the air is heating up with every breath of mine. Some of you seem to be lost somehow, bowing your head in shame perhaps. Don't be afraid to look up, there's an indescribable hope somewhere,, only waiting to be found. Rush, rush, rush...Don't lose it from your sight. It may not be back...

The Interrupted music lesson - Janusz "Kosa" Kosiński passed away

Janusz "Kosa" Kosiński ( 1944 - 2008 )

Another heartbreaking death of a wonderful, warm-hearted, kind and irreplaceable person. This past Easter I was heartbroken hearing the news that one of Polish Radio 3 legendary men - Janusz Kosiński died after a stroke. As far as I can reach with my memory I remember listening to His radio shows on "Trójka" and always waiting for His harsh comments on not only Polish reality and it's absurds but also on music, as Mr.Kosiński was truly the type of walkin encyclopedia in terms of music. Always kind, always smiling and always there for me and thousands of listeners to lead us through sleepless night with his soft voice and warm-hearted attitude towards life. Your death Mr.Kosiński is an interrupted music lesson, hope we'll meet ourselves in heaven one day and finish it.

Lullaby For Wyatt

This must be one of the most beautiful songs I've heard so far this year. Sheryl Crow's "Lullaby For Wyatt" - amazing as always. Tissue ???

The world could fall apart
But you're my heart, my dear
I will sing this song
'Til we are gone, my dear

How do I keep you from losing your way
Hope you'll go out and you'll come back some day
But love is letting go
And this I'll know

Cause you were mine
For a time

I could shape your mind
But why waste time, my dear
There's so much more to know
And I can show you dear

How do I keep you from losing your way

Hope you'll go out and you'll come back some day
But love is letting go
And this I'll know

Cause you were mine
For a time

I have held you close
And breathed your name, my dear
I was with you then
And will remain, my dear

How do I keep you from losing your way
Hope you will find love like I did some day
But love is letting go
And this I'll know

Cause you were mine
For a time
